Please contact Member Services, located in the lobby of the Madera Clubhouse, 520-393-5822, to alert them to your away address. They can set up an address schedule that automatically sends paper bills to whichever address is in effect at the time of sending. Or better yet, sign up to have your bills sent to your email address!

Quail Creek Crossing Newspaper

If you want to keep up with Quail Creek news while you are away, please change your address for the Quail Creek Crossing. It is mailed at the bulk mail rate and will not be forwarded by the post office. You can change your address online

Vacation Watch Form - Patrol

Please fill out a Vacation Watch Form and leave it with Patrol so we can contact you if there are any problems with your property in Quail Creek.  Please notify Patrol when you return.

You can cancel your eClub subscription and renew it when you return. To cancel your subscription, click on the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the latest Grill eClub newsletter. Click on eClub to re-subscribe.

Home Preparation

Security:

  • Forward your home phone so calls come to your cell phone or an alternate home phone, if possible.
  • Remove or lock up valuables
  • Set timers on lights to simulate occupancy.
  • Lock all windows and doors, including sliding glass doors.
  • Secure garage doors and any outdoor access points. Unplug the garage door motor, but do not disengage the emergency pull chain.
  • Notify a neighbor or friend to keep an eye on your property or hire a professional home watch company.
  • Install security cameras (if not already in place).
  • Double-check that motion sensors or alarms are functional.

HVAC:

  • Set the thermostat to a higher temperature (85°F–90°F) to save energy.
  • Change air filters to ensure the AC works efficiently when you return.
  • Turn off the water heater or set it to a lower temperature.

Plumbing:

  • Turn off water to the inside of the house leaving outside water water for your yard.
  • Turn off all faucets, showers, and toilets to avoid water wastage or accidents.
  • Check for any existing leaks and have them repaired.

Appliances:

  • Unplug non-essential appliances (microwave, toaster, coffee maker, etc.) to save energy and prevent fire hazards.
  • Ensure the refrigerator is clean and set to the correct temperature. If turning off, empty the refrigerator and leave the door open for air circulation.
  • Empty the trash and clean out food containers to avoid pests.

Exterior:

  • Clean gutters and downspouts to prevent blockages during summer rains.
  • Store any outdoor furniture or items that could be damaged by weather.
  • Check irrigation systems for leaks or malfunctions.
  • Trim trees and bushes to reduce fire hazards and ensure proper air circulation.
  • Arrange for someone to take care of your yard.

Personal and Financial Tasks

Mail and Deliveries:

  • Stop mail or have it forwarded to your summer address.
  • Pause newspaper deliveries or subscriptions.
  • Have someone collect packages or deliveries in your absence.

Finances:

  • Set up automatic bill payments for utilities and other recurring bills.
  • Notify your bank of travel plans if necessary (to avoid any card restrictions).
  • Consider paying off any outstanding bills before leaving.

Insurance:

  • Review homeowner’s insurance to ensure it covers all potential issues while you’re away.
  • Check the expiration date of your car insurance, especially if you're leaving a vehicle behind.

Vehicle Preparation

Car(s):

  • If leaving your vehicle in Quail Creek, consider having someone start it occasionally to keep the battery charged.
  • Check tire pressure and fill up the gas tank to prevent rust and moisture buildup.
  • Remove any valuables from the car and lock it securely.
