Meditation Community

Our purpose is to provide a place for a weekly time of quiet stillness for group meditation, personal reflection, and a sharing of our knowledge, for beginners as well as seasoned meditators in the Quail Creek Community.

Meditating alone provides deep relaxation, peace of mind and contentment. Sitting together with like-minded people offers support to each of us in our own individual practice. Meditating in a group creates an energy field collective of the group, expanding the effects beyond self, throughout all present.

We invite all to our meditation sessions every Monday at 4:30 pm in the Ocotillo Room in Kino Conference Center. We request that participants arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior, to meet other meditators and get comfortable in a seat so we can begin our group session promptly at 4:30 pm. Beginners and those with questions may come at 4:00-4:15 pm. A bell will signify the start and end of our meditation. A sharing, short quotation, poem or idea may be offered for discussion or reflection. We close by reciting the METTA (loving kindness) Prayer.

The sessions are free. No special clothing or equipment is required. Chairs will be provided and you may bring your own cushion, and blanket or towel to place under your feet or back. Layered clothing and socks are recommended, as the room temperature can be unpredictable. Achieving concentration and focus on breathing for meditation is supported with minimal distractions. We encourage stillness and phones are silenced.

To provide different meditation experiences and practices, we are encouraging anyone interested to lead the group in their modality of choice for a month. We will post our practice for the month on “What’s Happening in Quail Creek” and send an email reminder if we have your email on file. We would like to further enhance our practice by presenting workshops, special speakers and teachers.

In addition to our weekly Monday sessions, we like to get together several times during the year for potluck suppers. This offers us another way to socialize and connect with each other.
